The Lanzarote Sports City hosted this Wednesday the celebration of the XXIX Gymnastics Festival “Lolina Curbelo”, an event that brought together about 300 gymnasts from different clubs on the island in a day full of emotion, rhythm and talent.

Organized by the Island Sports Service of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, the festival once again served as a showcase for the work and effort that gymnastics clubs and coaches develop each week in the field of grassroots sports. In addition, it pays tribute to Lolina Curbelo, a fundamental figure in promoting this discipline on the island, presenting her daughter Nuria Cabrera, and her grandson Miguel Ángel Leal, with a small recognition of her figure.

The Minister of Sports, Juan Monzón, attended the event, together with the Deputy Mayor of Arrecife, Echedey Eugenio, the Councilor for Sports of Arrecife, Eli Merino, and the Councilor Marci Acuña, and wanted to publicly congratulate all the participants and organizers. “The ‘Lolina Curbelo’ Festival represents the Cabildo's commitment to grassroots sports and to a modality that has grown in an exemplary manner thanks to the work of coaches, families and entities that believe in education in values through sports”, he asserted.

Monzón especially thanked the involvement of the participating clubs —including Tigotán, Ayatima, Isla de Lanzarote, Tenesa Sol, Salitre and Vilena— for their dedication and for “making this festival an authentic celebration of island sports”.

The day left images of joy, camaraderie and emotion among the gymnasts and the large audience that filled the stands of the pavilion. An edition that reaffirms the role of the “Lolina Curbelo” Festival as one of the most beloved and anticipated events on the Lanzarote sports calendar.
