Experience and youth from Lanzarote

The Lanzarote team has not missed any of the 4 editions of the Spanish League and its commitment is to combine the youth of the promises of Lanzarote sailing with the experience and veteran status of more established sailors.

As Ricardo Terrades, its trimmer and project manager, explains, "for us it is important that young and veteran sailors compete together with a common goal from which we all come out satisfied. So far it has worked very well for us. For young people it is an excellent opportunity to learn and a huge motivation, but for the older ones this competition is also attractive in which the intensity of the tests and teamwork is so important".

About his crew he said "in this second event of El Arenal, Nano Negrín (ex America's Cup and one of the most successful sailors in the country) joins, but two young people with a lot of talent such as Alberto Morales and Andrea Stinga continue sailing. I trust that everything flows and we can fully enjoy the competition. The rivalry is very great and all the teams come very well armed".

The regatta with the most original system

The Spanish Sailing League is a very original regatta, in which the teams come without their own boats and it is the organization that provides them with boats that are exactly the same. The teams rotate in each round they play of boat and in this way seeks to reward the good work of sailors and not so much the set-up and the war of material, so common in this sport.

The regattas are of great intensity and very short duration (12-15 minutes) with tight windward-leeward courses, making all participating teams strive to the maximum, as more than 30 tests can be held throughout the weekend. There are continuously dances in the classification and there are many possibilities to come back in each round.

The crew must be formed by 4 or 5 members over 16 years, in each team must be represented both genders (male and female), the weight limit is usually 350 kg and all members of the crew must have their federative license issued by the same club.
