The Lanzarote athlete Fabián Opance becomes the new athlete of the Catalan team 'L'Hospitalet Atletisme'. He has been living in Barcelona for almost nine months, during which time he has been competing with an athletics team from Córdoba. Now, after dedicating seven years professionally to athletics, he changes location and joins the Catalan team.
“Towards January I will be joining the team in the Honor Division category”, he assured La Voz. He has been preparing since last August for his welcome and to achieve a 400-meter dash and a group relay test.
"The first test with which I will debut in the team will be on January 7th", the runner anticipates.

Balancing his career as an athlete and his work in hospitality in different hotels in Barcelona becomes a challenge for him. "It's a sacrifice," he says. He works from Monday to Friday and trains four days a week. "First I go to train and then I go to work," he says. "I only rest from competitions on Thursday and Sunday," he adds. He has to combine both jobs to be able to live. "What they pay me on the team is not enough to support myself, it's not the same as in other sports," he highlights.

During the training for the preseason that is required to be able to compete, he recognizes that he "suffers a lot mentally." A test in which discipline and consistency is the most important part. "I have to go to the gym regularly and do aerobic training."
"In the club I feel very welcome, I'm like family, and I already know my future teammates," he confesses. In addition, he is excited to "enter an Athletics team in Catalonia, one of the most top communities", he highlighted.
My goal is to "improve the mark if possible and in the future try to compete in the Relays of the Colombian Athletics Team." Having dual Colombian and Spanish nationality, "it is much easier and more affordable to compete there than in Spain, there is not as much level among the athletes," the athlete highlights.
