The facilities of the Hyde Park Lane Leisure & Sport Padel Club hosted on Thursday afternoon the official presentation of the IV Challenger Puerto del Carmen Tourist Area, an event already consolidated in the island's sports scene and which, this year, will celebrate its fourth edition between June 23 and 29.
The event was attended by the director of the center, Vanesa García; the Sports Councilor of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Juan Monzón; and the Councilor for Sports of the City Council of Tías, Ismael Cruz, who highlighted the relevance of the tournament both from the sports perspective and for its social and economic impact on the municipality.
During the welcome, Vanesa García positively valued the evolution of the event and the growing involvement of the participants. “Registrations, which will remain open until June 21, have increased over the days, reaching 60 registered couples, hoping to exceed one hundred registered couples”, said the director of the club, who also recalled that it is a Challenger-type tournament endorsed by the Canary Islands Padel Federation.
The Councilor for Sports of the City Council of Tías, Ismael Cruz, especially valued the work of the organizing club both in the management of events and in the promotion of grassroots sports: “Thanks to the work of the club, many boys and girls in the municipality grow up around padel”, he stressed, inviting all the players on the island to take advantage of the fact that registrations are open to sign up for the event.
For his part, the Sports Councilor of the Cabildo, Juan Monzón, showed his institutional support for the event, underlining its importance for the development of sports and the dynamization of tourist activity: “The Hyde Park Lane Leisure & Sport Padel Club knows that it can count on our full support to carry out tournaments like this, which are very important to move the economy of the towns where they are held”, he said.
Monzón also pointed out that “padel is a sport that is growing more and more and the consolidation of tournaments like this makes us see that, thanks to private impulse and public support, we can and should be on that path”.
The IV Challenger Puerto del Carmen Tourist Area will be held in the Men's, Women's and Mixed categories, and will have cash prizes and sports equipment, which reinforces its competitive appeal. The event will take place on the courts of the Hyde Park Lane Padel Club, located in one of the most emblematic areas of the municipality of Tías.
With this fourth edition, the Hyde Park Lane Leisure & Sport Padel Club reaffirms its commitment to the promotion of padel, the promotion of sports tourism and the strengthening of the social fabric of Puerto del Carmen. With the participation of dozens of couples, the event will once again be a meeting point for players, families, fans and collaborating companies who, during an intense week, will share values such as effort, coexistence and passion for padel.
