The Casa-Museo del Campesino hosted this Tuesday the presentation of the 43rd Orvecame-Isla de Lanzarote Rally, which will be contested by 61 teams on Friday and Saturday. Except for the regional championship, both the BP championship of Las Palmas, as well as the Insular championship of Lanzarote and the Orvecame-DISA Cup have several of their titles at stake, which will be decided in the timed sections of Lanzarote. It is also valid for the Promotion Trophy and FALP Steering Wheel.

The presentation of the event, organized by CD. Evesport, was attended by the Minister of Sports of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Alfedo Mendoza; the mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín; and the councilors of Sports of the municipalities of Arrecife, Tías, San Bartolomé, Teguise; together with the president of the organization, José Víctor Rodríguez; the acting president of the FALP, Miguel Angel Domínguez; and Javier Martín, marketing director of the Cabrera Medina Group (Orvecame and CICAR).

"Lanzarote is experiencing the month of motoring" said one of the speakers, who in general "positively valued the intense end of the season", first with the recent Isla de los Volcanes Rally which was "a success" and now comes "the culmination with the rally on asphalt", highlight from the organization of the event.

Jesús Machín, who in addition to being mayor is a rally driver, already asked the new elected president of the FCA not to leave the smaller islands "apart from the decision of the regional championships", pointing out that "it is not fair that the high level of motorsport in Lanzarote and our events are not taken into account for the decision of a regional championship, since it should be mandatory to participate in all events and not only in those closest to home or the main islands."

The Minister of Sports closed the presentation commenting that "having overcome the crisis of April with the cancellation of the Volcanes, after that fiasco, things have been done very well" and both "Evesport and the Cabildo have worked very hard to execute the entire calendar of island motorsport and today we are in luck with the last rally about to be held, with a route that includes the best of the Lanzarote sections, the vast majority of island drivers participating and a list of entries of great level with those 61 teams and cars. I think Lanzarote, its drivers and fans deserved it."

On behalf of Evesport, its president once again expressed his commitment to motorsport in Lanzarote: "Despite everything, we will fulfill our commitment to organize a good rally and we will be very comfortable with our people, together with motorsport that has given us so many satisfactions, with the desire that everyone enjoy the rally after such a complicated year."

This Tuesday also held the security meeting in the island delegation of the Government, where they discussed and finalized the details on security and to check that all points are well tied and controlled, especially considering that this year the rally opens a night section of more than 15 km on Friday night and a large influx of spectators is expected throughout the day on Saturday, both in the sections and in the final arrival in Arrecife, where the assistance park will also be located (Fairgrounds).

The sections, not being able to rescue "Tabayesco", the road book is very similar to last year, except for the change of La Candelaria which is done in reverse.

"All the data can be seen and downloaded on the website www.VMRM.net, where in the section "Getting to", you can choose the point where we want to see the timed section and the application will show you the route through Google Maps to arrive without problems. Here you can also follow the times and classifications on the day of the rally", comment from the organization.

Regarding the list of 61 teams that we advance, since it is only missing the visa by the FALP (its official publication is Wednesday at 19 hours), number 1 is for the current champion and leader of the BP Championship 2022, Julio Martínez, with Pedro Viera as co-driver in the Porsche 911 GT3.

His direct rival in pursuit of the title is also present, Toñi Ponce with Pedro Domínguez in the Hyundai i20 R5. Along with the Porsche 911 GT3 of Toñín Suárez-Jorge Cedrés and Oliver Rodríguez-David Rivero promise a tough fight for the podium places. In addition to Yeray Lemes-Rogelio Peñate who lead a "cloud" of drivers with Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, such as Aníbal Machín, Suso Lemes, Alejandro Rodríguez, Josué Alemán or Camilo González. All are always very difficult teams to beat in Lanzarote and especially Yeray Lemes who will look for his place of honor after winning last year with this same mount.

"Another great point of interest will be the survivors of the DISA-Orvecame Cup, with a majority of Lanzarote drivers such as Raúl Hernández, Juan Carlos de la Cruz, Javier Cañada and Alfredo Guerra, as well as Giovanni Fariña and Nelson Climent, who will fight for the top places in the event organized by Sport&You Canarias", concludes the organization.
