The Cabildo of Lanzarote congratulates Ray Zapata for his silver medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games

Corujo: “This medal makes Ray a role model for many girls and boys, young women and men, whose example will serve as inspiration”

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, has publicly congratulated the Lanzarote gymnast Ray Zapata for the silver medal won at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, in the floor exercise modality.

“In my name, and in that of the Corporation, I want to send my most enthusiastic and cordial congratulations to Ray Zapata. Thanks to his determination, to the hard work done during all these years, he has achieved a success within the reach of very few people, of which the people of Lanzarote feel part”, expressed the president.

Corujo also wanted to have some words of recognition for the family and the athlete's club, Isla de Lanzarote: “Behind this personal success is the support and work of his family and his people with whom I want to share the feeling of pride that invades us in the face of this unprecedented success”.

Finally, the president highlighted the extraordinary importance of Zapata's result: “This medal will make the name of Lanzarote sound and, already here, at home, it makes Ray a role model for many girls and boys, young women and men, whose example will serve as inspiration”.
