The young promises of national badminton met this weekend at the Master N1-N4 Los Realejos, a competition that took place in the U17 category and that featured the participation of four players from the Auria Badminton Club. Nerea Padrón, along with Eduardo Curbelo (Lanzarote Raqueta Club), won the gold medal in mixed doubles and her teammate Patricia Vargas, along with Bruno Lionel Peralta (CD Tiguaneje), took the silver in the same modality.
The N1-N4 Los Realejos Master featured a format divided into two competitive levels. On one hand, the N1 Master was reserved for the players and pairs best positioned in the national ranking. For its part, the N4 Master allowed the participation of the rest of the registered participants, offering an opportunity for growth and experience to a greater number of young athletes, and in which Nerea Padrón, Yraya García, Lucía Rincón, and Patricia Vargas participated.
The four pairs registered in the mixed doubles were grouped in the same group, facing each other under the round-robin system in a single round. Nerea Padrón and Eduardo Curbelo achieved victory in the three matches played, defeating Bruno Lionel Peralta – Patricia Vargas (21-12, 16-21, 21-16), Nahum Chávez – Carlota Pita (15-21, 21-7, 21- 13) and Mauro García – Vera Pereyra (18-21, 21-18, 21-17). The player from Auria Bádminton Club and the player from Lanzarote Raqueta Club, conquered the gold medal in the Master N4 Los Realejos.
To the second step of the podium climbed Patricia Vargas and Bruno Lionel Peralta, player of CD Tiguaneje. In the first match of the competition they were defeated by Eduardo Curbelo – Nerea Padrón, and achieved victory against Mauro García – Vera Pereyra (21-16, 21-17) and in the match played against Nahum Chávez – Carlota Pita (21-13, 21-13), to conquer the silver medal.
In the women's individual modality, the four players from Auria Badminton could not reach the final draw of the competition. Patricia Vargas won a match against Laura Gómez (15-21, 21-15, 21-11), as did Nerea Padrón who prevailed in the group stage against Carlota Pita (21-11, 21-5). And Lucía Rincón also won one of her matches against Naiara Pulido (21-14, 19-21, 21-15).
