TAZ Lanzarote once again demonstrated its dominance in Canarian grappling by being crowned team champion of the Canarian Grappling Gi Championship, held this Saturday, September 5, in the Ciudad Deportiva de Lanzarote.
The Lanzarote club closed the competition with an extraordinary balance of 63 medals, becoming the most decorated team in the championship: 35 gold medals, 20 silver, and 8 bronze. A result that reflects both the quality of TAZ competitors and the breadth and solidity of the work the club carries out in its different categories.
The competition, organized by the Canary Islands Federation of Wrestling and Associated Modalities, brought together athletes from different parts of the Archipelago in Lanzarote, making the island a meeting point for Canarian grappling during the day.
TAZ faced the event with a broad representation of athletes of different ages and categories, managing to reach the podium on numerous occasions and accumulating a particularly outstanding number of victories. The 35 golds achieved were decisive for the club to rise to first place in the overall team standings.
This new collective success is a recognition of the work that TAZ Lanzarote has been developing throughout the season, betting on the training of young athletes and the preparation of competitors capable of competing at the highest level in regional and national championships.
A new success for Lanzarote's Jiujitsu
The team victory once again places TAZ Lanzarote as one of the reference clubs in the Canary Islands in the disciplines of wrestling and grappling. The result also takes on a special meaning as it was achieved as hosts of a regional competition held in Lanzarote.
For the club, the championship represents much more than a ranking. The participation of athletes from different generations and levels demonstrates the growth of the discipline on the island and the work done in recent years to consolidate a competitive talent pool.
