SPL Arrecife Conejeros achieved victory this Sunday at the IES Santo Tomás De Aquino Pavilion in Puerto del Rosario in their visit to C.B. CAF Fuerteventura (62-72) in a match corresponding to the third day of the second phase, in the noble group of the LIIC Interinsular League.

Even first quarter with Conejeros somewhat short on the bench, conceding a bad initial ten-zero partial. The “Duck Nation” knew how to recover to close the first quarter with equality (18-17). In the second section, Conejeros improved to reach halftime seven up (29-36).

In the third partial, it was the local team's turn to react, leaving the swords high for the definitive quarter (52-50). At the right moment of the match, the Arrecifeños exploded and with a forceful partial (10-22) they annulled the local team and took a victory that tastes like a solo leadership. Up to eight three-pointers were achieved during the match by the orange team.

Salvador Gatjens became again the top scorer of the match and of his team with twenty-eight points. In the Majorera squad, the fifteen points of Jorge Picallo stood out.

With this result, SPL Arrecife Conejeros is placed as the sole leader for the moment with ten points, followed by CB Maramajo, Costa Teguise and AD Los Toscones, all with eight points and one less game played than the Arrecifeños.

For the Conejero coach, Javier Cabello, “playing and winning in Fuerteventura as we have done today, the truth is, it has incredible merit. With only four players from the usual squad and well accompanied by three cadets who gave a recital, giving everything for the shirt. It was a complicated match because of how the team arrived, but, at all times, we knew how to be and read the match. Highlighting Vily for his points is the easy thing, but the dark work and all the logistics tasks of Don Vicente Rodríguez are worthy of praise. It's time to think about the match against Costa Teguise next Wednesday. We have to prepare it well and add a victory that brings us closer to the playoffs", concludes Cabello.

SPL Arrecife Conejeros will return to the interinsular competition next Wednesday, March 19, at 8:30 p.m., on the court of IES Las Salinas de Arrecife receiving Costa Teguise.
