Six swimmers from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife participate in the 'Alberto Juez Crossing'

More than 130 participants completed the 2,200-meter course that took place at Playa de Los Pozos and Playa Blanca, in Fuerteventura

The open water team of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife traveled this past weekend to the island of Fuerteventura, participating in the town of Puerto del Rosario in a new edition of the Alberto Juez Swimming Crossing. The Lanzarote club had the presence of six swimmers, participating in a new day of the VI Canary Islands Open Water Cup.

The members of the open water team of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife traveled to the island of Fuerteventura on Sunday. The expedition was made up of Carlos Saenz Toledo, Miguel Ángel Ferrer Peñate, Fernando Benítez González, Ruperto Agustín Armas García, Sandra Nieves Medina and Sara Dolores Pereera Hernández. Swimmers who have been regulars in the different stages of the VI Canary Islands Open Water Cup.

The Alberto Juez Memorial Swimming Crossing had a route of 2,200 meters and took place between Playa de Los Pozos and Playa Blanca, all in the town of Puerto del Rosario. The test had the participation of more than 130 swimmers, not missing one of the great events of open water swimming in Fuerteventura and which pays tribute to one of the key people in the development of swimming on the island.

In the women's category, Sandra Nieves Medina achieved victory in the Master 45 category and was classified in 15th place overall with a time of 38 minutes and 44 seconds. Her teammate Sara Dolores Perera also climbed the podium in the Alberto Juez Crossing, being third in the Master 35 category and 26th overall with 44:11.

The best result in the men's category was achieved by Miguel Ángel Ferrer Peñate, a swimmer who was third in the Master 50 category with a time of 34:49, and was classified in position 22 overall. As for the rest of the members of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, Carlos Saenz came in 32nd place (35:39), Fernando Benítez finished in 40th position (38:09) and Ruperto Agustín Armas was classified in 61st place (44:51).
