The Ibiza Wingfoil Open – Spanish Cup was held last weekend, a competition that brought together a total of 53 athletes in the different categories. Among the participants was Manuel Morillo Fiestas, a rider from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife who, from the first day of competition, was fighting for the top positions in the overall standings. Finally, the Lanzarote native finished in fifth position overall and won the silver medal in the under-19 youth category.
The Ibiza Wingfoil Open – Spanish Cup featured a large group of athletes from the Canary Islands, who dominated the top positions in the overall standings. Throughout the three days of competition, a total of 12 qualifying heats were held, and 5 corresponded to the finals to decide the top positions on the podium.
From day one, Manuel Morillo Fiestas placed himself among the top qualifiers, never dropping below fifth place in the heats held on the race course. His worst result came in the last qualifying race, with a tenth-place finish that he was able to discard as his worst result. In the final rounds, the rider from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife recorded three fourth-place finishes, one of the heats he finished in sixth position, and the last in ninth.
The consistency shown throughout the three days of competition allowed Manuel Morillo Fiestas to finish in fifth position overall in the Ibiza Wingfoil Open – Spanish Cup, facing great national riders such as Ángel Granda, Jeremy Rodríguez, Ancor Sosa, and Alberto Citzia, among others. In addition, the rider from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife was proclaimed runner-up in the under-19 youth category, winning the silver medal.
