Once again, the town of Montaña Blanca was filled with mountain runners and hikers to carry out the trail race that has been in the Lanzarote mountain circuit for the most years. A test that was born to maintain the emotional connection of the inhabitants of Montaña Blanca with the mountain of the same name. In the words of the organizer and creator of the race, Ignacio Romero (Senderismo Lanzarote) “it arose from the love of our town for our closest mountain, from which we take the name and which we have so many experiences in”.
The morning of Sunday, May 25, dawned fresh and with the mist covering Montaña Blanca. At 08.30 hours the runners of the Fanega category (21km) started with a record number of entries in this modality, 70 people who had to overcome more than 1000 meters of positive difference in altitude with ramps of almost 40% difference in altitude. In this modality, Rayco Hernández (Latitud29) and the neighbor of Montaña Blanca, Sergio Machín, entered the finish line together and at the same time, with 1 hour and 43 minutes. Tanausú Cabrera from CM El Jable closed the podium.
In the women's category, Sandra Ortiz (Latitud29) won with a time of 2 hours and 17 minutes. Followed by Cris Molina (Todo por un sueño) and Georgina Abdul (HTT). At 09.00 hours the participants of the Almud category of 11 kilometers and 600 meters of positive difference in altitude started with the same hard ramps of the great Montaña Blanca. Raúl Caraballo won with a time of one hour and 54 seconds, followed by the neighbor of Montaña Blanca, Saúl Rodríguez (Cavelanz) and Ismael Redol (Mareaviva).

It should be noted that between runners and hikers the maximum quota of participants was completed, 350 a week before the closing of registration. Many boys and girls also in the children's race of 1 km around the teleclub and that also had some unevenness and hardness.
The emotional anecdote, which filled the Montaña Blanca square with tears, was the marriage proposal at the finish line by the historic Montaña Blanca runner, Luis Rodríguez (5th overall in Almud) to his life partner, Nieves Pérez, both parents of the promise of the Lanzarote trail, Saúl Rodríguez.
The Councilor for Sports, Alexis Hernández, was present at the event and highlighted the high participation and the quality of the runners. The San Bartolomé City Council unconditionally supports this great and unique sporting event. Ignacio Romero remarked with his words and addressing all the participants that the objective of the test is to raise awareness of the natural environment and the rural identity of Lanzarote, while enjoying a route that runs through unique spaces. A large part of the route is within the limits of the Protected Landscape of La Geria. “The survival of this unique and spectacular landscape, the activity and productivity of our sands and our vineyards is everyone's commitment and work".
