Raúl Hernández has decided this year to run the Junior World Rally Car World Championship, and his first race, which was held from February 9 to 12, seemed the most complicated of all. “We didn't know the car, and also we had no experience running on ice and snow tracks, so we went a little to test with humility what we could do”, explains Raúl.

And he paid dearly for that inexperience with the car as soon as the test started, as the engine stopped up to two times, having to lose more than two minutes in the general classification. But little by little the team formed by Raúl Hernández and Rodrigo San Juan began to adapt to the car and the test, completing a great comeback. And it is that after being last in the first sections, he recovered positions in the general classification section after section and completed a spectacular comeback, which would leave him fifth in the Junior World Rally Car, and managing to be the first Spaniard in the absolute general classification.

The next world event will take Raúl Hernández to Croatia in April, where he hopes to "get the hang of the car and the competition".

A huge year for the Lanzarote driver

This past year has been a complete year for the promise of motorsport from Lanzarote, since to his sporting successes, champion of the Orvecame Cup, as well as the invitation to run the World Rally Championship, we must add the recognition of specialized critics, who have cataloged Hernández as the Best Canary Driver of the year 2022, awarded by the Association of Motor Journalists of the Canary Islands.
