Complete seven Ironmans on seven islands of the archipelago for seven consecutive days. That is the challenge that athlete Patricio Doucet, a specialist in ultra-distance sports events, intends to carry out. The purpose of his challenge is to raise funds for the Tinguafaya Association of Lanzarote, a non-profit organization dedicated to responding to the needs of families with children who have some type of mental or motor disability.

The Minister of Sports of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Patricia Pérez, highlighted this Thursday during the presentation in Puerto del Carmen of this challenge, called 'Canary Islands, 7 islands, 7 challenges', the "firm decision" by the first Island Corporation "to collaborate with solidarity events of this type". Pérez also praised "the social involvement of both the Tinguafaya Association and Patricio Doucet".

The Argentine athlete, based in Lanzarote for a decade, will begin his challenge on October 5 in El Hierro and plans to finish it on October 11 in Lanzarote, after completing an Ironman on each of the seven islands. This test includes routes of 3.8 kilometers of swimming, 180 kilometers of bicycle and a marathon. The remaining five will be carried out in La Gomera on the 6th, La Palma on the 7th, Tenerife on the 8th, Gran Canaria on the 9th and Fuerteventura on the 10th.

To collaborate with this charitable initiative, whose entire proceeds will be used to support therapy and purchase materials to improve the quality of life of young people with disabilities, a bank account has been enabled in which donations can be made through transfer. The number of this account, of the Bankia entity, is: 2038 7221 68 6000799239 (IBAN ES29).

Each donor will 'sponsor' a section of each of the Ironmans, so when making their donation they must specify the island where that section will take place, the kilometer, the modality and the name and surname of the donor, who, if they wish, may send their data to the email address patrocinakms@gmail.com in order to be published on the official website of this event www.islascanarias-7retos.com.

A solidarity challenge with an infrastructure "difficult to imagine"

During the presentation of this 'Canary Islands: 7 Islands, 7 Challenges', Patricio Doucet was "happy to be the ambassador of the Tinguafaya Association in every place where I compete" and thanked Lorea Santos, commercial director of one of the sponsors of the event, the Hotel Vik San Antonio, for the help provided to face this challenge "of which it is difficult to imagine the infrastructure behind it".

The event also included the presence of Eva de Anta, Councilor for Social Welfare of the Arrecife City Council, a collaborating institution like the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the Government of the Canary Islands, who considered that "it is in moments like this when public institutions have to help Non-Governmental Organizations more".

For his part, the president of the Tinguafaya Association of Lanzarote, Jerónimo Padrón, thanked Patricio Doucet "for the collaboration he has been providing us for years", as well as for facing this "extraordinary challenge and on which we have great faith that he will be able to complete it".
