CD Magec Tías Against Gender Violence suffered a close defeat against Grupo Femenino Alcorcón by 67 to 69, in a match that stood out for its equality and emotion until the last moment.
The match started with a delay due to a computer problem with the minutes, but once underway, the equality was noticeable from the first moment. The Madrid team took the lead circumstantially, but Margarida Junqueira managed to turn the score around, carrying her teammates, so that they came back and closed the first quarter with a score of 20 to 14 in favor of the locals.
In the second quarter, the Madrid team managed to recover and take the lead, dissolving the six-point advantage of Magec Tías. Little by little, the tables were turned on the scoreboard until reaching halftime with a 38-38 tie.
The third quarter was chaotic for the Lanzarote team, who failed to take control of the match. The rivals took advantage of the facilities to give them a partial 10 to 20 in the quarter and direct the match in their favor. Cristo González called a time-out with two minutes remaining, finding the reaction of his players, who scored a partial of 8 to 0 to end the quarter with 56 to 58.
The local numbers increased from the 8-0 partial to 15-0 at the beginning of the last quarter, giving the sensation that the Lanzarote push could decide the match. But it was not like that. The rivals woke up from their lethargy and began to get into the game, equaling it and surpassing the locals on the scoreboard, which alternated in favor of one team or the other.
Magec Tías Against Gender Violence suffered the loss due to personal fouls of two important players such as Yaiza García and Sira Hisado, who had to watch from the bench how the Madrid team, at the last moment, took the victory by 67 to 69.
This result leaves the island players with one victory and two defeats. Next week the Lanzarote team will visit Náutico de Tenerife, a team that has the same numbers as Magec Tías.
