In the last outing of the season, Magec Tías Against Gender Violence failed to prevail against Mariscos Antón Cortegada, falling defeated by a score of 52 to 41 in a match played in Vilagarcía de Arousa, Pontevedra. The Galicians, in need of victory, and certain results, to play the phase, were far superior to the Lanzarote team, with the objective achieved a week ago.
From the beginning of the match, the Galician team took the lead, dominating the game in all its facets and leaving little room for reaction from the visitors, although the scoring ability of both teams was quite low. The first quarter already anticipated the trend of the game, with the locals taking a 11-5 lead. By halftime, the difference had widened even further, placing the score at 25-13 in favor of Mariscos Antón Cortegada.
The third quarter began with a lethal Galician team, with a positional defense that prevented the Lanzarote team from creating plays, achieving a partial score of 14-0, which practically ended the islanders' hopes. Little by little, Jesús García's team recovered, which began to see the basket, concluding the quarter with the score at 47-24. Despite a final effort by Magec Tías, who showed their best version in the last quarter with a partial score of 5-17, the epic comeback did not materialize, and the match concluded with a local victory.
The Lanzarote team, who had already secured their permanence in the Women's League 2, once again faced the difficulty of having few rotations, which again limited the rest of the players. Magec Tías will close its season at home next week, facing Segle XXI, champion of the regular phase of group 1.
For the Mariscos Antón Cortegada team, Iria Losada had an outstanding performance, achieving a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. As for Magec Tías, Verónica Matoso was the team's top scorer with 15 points, followed by Ana Fernández who contributed with 11 points. Other players such as Iranzu Drake and Marta Pérez also contributed to the score with 6 and 5 points, respectively. These individual performances, although outstanding, were not enough to change the final result of the match, but reflect the effort and dedication of the players on the court.
