Magec Tías Against Gender Violence could not add its third consecutive victory in the Women's Basketball League 2, after being defeated by GEIEG by 67 to 58 at the Pavelló Lluis Bachs in Girona. The island team had to face the match with the second kit and some sneakers borrowed from the opponent, after suffering a robbery in the cars that left them without their sports equipment.
The match began with great equality between both teams, who knew each other well after having faced each other in the first round. Magec Tías tried to overcome the previous setback and stood up to GEIEG, who could not take off on the scoreboard. The first quarter ended with a tight 18 to 18. In the second quarter, Magec Tías took the lead with a small advantage, but GEIEG reacted and turned the game around, going into halftime with a 41 to 33.
After passing through the locker rooms, the game was definitively broken in favor of the Girona team, who took advantage of the Lanzarote team's slump in morale to extend their lead. A 12-0 run seemed to sentence the match. Magec Tías did not give up and tried to cut the distance, but GEIEG knew how to maintain its dominance and closed the quarter with a 60-41, with a 19-point advantage.
In the last quarter, Magec Tías showed its pride and fighting character, and chose to star in a new comeback. The visitors tightened in defense and dried up GEIEG, who did not score any points in the last six minutes of the game. Meanwhile, Magec Tías found the offensive success that it lacked in the previous quarters and got closer on the scoreboard. However, time ran out and GEIEG managed to maintain its lead until the end, which was 67 to 58.
With this defeat, Magec Tías remains in ninth position in the standings, with 6 wins and 10 losses. Next week they will receive Homs UE Mataró - Femení Maresme in Tías, eighth classified, with 8 wins and 8 losses, who comes from losing to Maristas Coruña by 65 to 55.
