In a very even match full of alternatives, Magec Tías Against Gender Violence suffered a one-point defeat (60-59) against GMASB, in a match that took place in the Fuente Nueva 1 Pavilion of the University of Granada. Despite the adverse result, the Lanzarote team showed a great competitive level, fighting until the last second.

The match began with a GMASB very successful in attack, led by Laura Martínez, who scored two consecutive three-pointers that gave the first advantages to the local team. However, Magec Tías responded quickly and, thanks to a three-pointer by Carolina Mateo, managed to take the lead for the first time in the match. Cristo González's team managed to have a five-point advantage, although a 5-0 run by the locals allowed them to close the first quarter with a 17-17 tie.

During the second quarter, the Granada team took the lead again, but Magec Tías, with a remarkable performance by Margarida Junqueira in attack, took the lead again, gaining a six-point advantage at halftime.

After passing through the locker rooms, the match was characterized by a strong defensive work by both teams. The third quarter ended with a score of 12-10 in favor of GMASB, which managed to reduce the disadvantage to four points before the last quarter.

In the final stretch of the match, Magec Tías continued to fight to maintain their advantage, but GMASB managed to tie the score thanks to a three-pointer by Viktoriya Babych. With just over two minutes remaining, María Sánchez scored two free throws that put GMASB ahead. Sira Hisado responded for the red and blacks, but a crucial block by Babych and a basket nine seconds from the end sealed the fourth victory of the season for the Granada team and the fifth defeat of the season for the Lanzarote team.

Despite the defeat, the coaching staff of Magec Tías Against Gender Violence is convinced that the work done is correct. "The coaching staff is with the whole group and we support our players until the end, so we will focus on continuing to work on all those aspects and go all united," said coach Cristo González.

Next week the islanders will receive Doc Gardenstore Baloncesto Sevilla in the Municipal Pavilion of Tías, on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in what will be the team's last match on the island in 2024, since the rest of the December matches will be played as visitors.
