Lanzarote will host the 2026 Spanish Petanque Championship

Guatiza will be the setting for this absolute category event, which will be held from September 4th to 6th

The Island Sports Service of the Cabildo de Lanzarote presented, within the framework of FITUR Sports, the Spanish Petanque Championship that will be held this year in the town of Guatiza, in the municipality of Teguise. 

Present at the presentation ceremony were the Minister of Physical Activity and Sports of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Juan Monzón; the mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque; the president of the Spanish Petanque Federation, Antonio Pérez; and the president of the Insular Federation of Bola Canaria and Petanca of Lanzarote, Francisco González. Also present were the deputy mayor and councilor for Tourism of Teguise, Rita Hernández; and the councilor for Sports, Alejandro Ramírez. 

"We have demonstrated, on different occasions, Lanzarote's capacity to host top-level sporting events, and being able to enjoy an absolute national pétanque championship shows that with good inter-administrative coordination and the commitment to move projects forward, it is possible," said the counselor, who thanked the national federation "for their interest in our land to host this event."For her part, the mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, assured that Teguise has become "a unique place for the practice of Canarian ball and petanque," "Last year we hosted the Canary Islands Championship of Canarian Ball Selections, and now we have the honor of being the venue for a Spanish Championship. I am convinced that many people will come through our municipality to enjoy this magnificent sport," she addedSpecifically, Lanzarote will host the Spanish Championship of Men's and Women's First Division Tripletas, a competition traditionally known as the King's Cup and Queen's Cup of Petanque. The competition will be held on the weekend of September 4, 5, and 6.
