The Cabildo of Lanzarote recently welcomed the Pingüinos de Arrecife Club after the children's category swimmers managed to position themselves as Spanish runners-up by clubs in the National Artistic Swimming Championship. The team returned with three more podium finishes from a competition that brought together more than 700 athletes from all over the country.
The Sports Councilor, Juan Monzón, assured that the Cabildo will continue to provide institutional support to these teams and reiterates its "strong commitment to sports activities."
In addition, he recognizes the value of the work of a small club like Pingüinos de Arrecife, and highlights that they "starred in a historic performance that is a great source of pride for the Island and places them among the leaders of Spanish artistic swimming."
The team also returned with three bronze medals obtained by the children's category in the combo routine, by the mixed children's duo formed by Victoria Romero and Miguel Martínez with Sofía Méndez in reserve and by Miguel Martínez in the male figures. The latter will be invited to the next state concentration after being selected to be part of the national children's team.
Also noteworthy were the results of the individual competition of Avril Bethencourt, number 18 in the general classification and fourth of her year; Vega Jiménez, in 38th place, and Mar Saavedra, who was 40th.
