The San Ginés 2025 International High Seas Regatta celebrated a new edition this weekend, departing on Friday afternoon from the bay of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and arriving in the bay of Arrecife, after completing nearly 115 nautical miles. The oldest high seas regatta in the country was marked by low wind, with boats having to overcome areas of calm. The Lanzarote Sailing Paradise, owned by Ye Cabrera and skippered by Alonso Pérez, won the overall victory in the seventy-fifth edition of the San Ginés 2025 International Regatta.

Fifteen boats, with the fleet divided into two groups, set off on Friday afternoon from the bay of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The wind was blowing from the north at that moment with an intensity of about 10 knots. This would be the tone throughout the crossing, making navigation harder and with many areas of calm.

The Lanzarote Sailing Paradise, with Alonso Pérez as skipper and a crew made up of sailors aged 16 to 20, took the victory in the LXXV San Ginés 2025 International High Seas Regatta, and was also the winner of the ORC 1-2 class. The second position on the podium went to Antonio Luis Hernández's Sorcery, and Miguel Armas' Sorondongo IV took third place. The top three finishers overall are boats from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife.

As for the ORC 3-4 class, the winner was Francisco José Olivares' Alpispa 2 (CM Varadero), and he was accompanied by Sergio Vicente Acevedo's Papoa and Unai Segurado's Invictus (CM Varadero), second and third, respectively.

The César Manrique Hall of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife hosted the awards ceremony for the LXXV San Ginés 2025 International High Seas Regatta on Saturday night. The event was attended by the club's president, Julio Romero, who was accompanied by Roberto Herbón, representing the Arrecife City Council, Rafael Marcos, Chief Colonel of the Marqués de Herrera Barracks, Carlos Jiménez, Head of the Lanzarote Air Base, Francisco Olivares, representing the Royal Canarian Sailing Federation, and Alicia Cebrián, Councilor for Sports of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, among others.

During the event, the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife recognized Paco Curbelo and Enrique Boissier as Legends of the San Ginés International Regatta. The "Red Lantern" award went to Miguel Lorenzo Ruiz's Bicho Ruin. And the Sorcery was recognized as the fastest boat to reach the finish line during Saturday morning.
