The Lanzarote Raqueta Club is proud of the excellent results obtained by our players in the Canary Islands Championship, recently held on the island and organized by our club. The tournament has been a real success both in sports and in the organization, leaving a total of 11 medals at home between golds, silvers and bronzes, which demonstrates the great level of our athletes.
The Under 11 men's singles, Manuel Cabrera was crowned champion of the Canary Islands after an epic final against Álvaro Guadalupe of the Auria Badminton Club. After a long and hard-fought match, Cabrera won the gold medal and the title of champion in the under 11 category.
The Under 11 women's singles, Vera García, in a great effort, won the silver medal, after a tough semi-final against Nerea Infantes of the Los Hinojeros Granadilla de Abona Club, Vera was very close to reaching the final and leaving a great mark on the tournament.
In the Under 11 mixed doubles category, in a final full of emotion, Manuel Cabrera and Gara Sánchez achieved a remarkable second place in mixed doubles, after an intense battle against Vera García and Airam Steux, who were proclaimed champions of the Canary Islands in this category.
In the Under 13 category, our athletes also shone with outstanding results in all categories.
The Under 13 women's singles, Marina Morales achieved an excellent bronze, falling in the semi-final against Irene Socorro of the Majorero Pajaritos Playa Club, after a very close match. In addition to an Under 13 men's singles, where Jorge Betancort also reached the podium with a silver medal, after losing in a very tight semi-final against Javier Peña of the University Club.
And in the Under 13 mixed doubles category, the couple formed by Ian González and Esmeralda Estefania Castillo won the bronze medal, falling in the semi-finals against the Majoreros Martín Rivero and Yarima Morales of the Pajaritos Playa Club.
Finally, in the under 19 category, we also had an outstanding participation in an under 19 women's singles, where the player Atenea Morales won the bronze medal, after a tough semi-final against Laura de León of the Tenzul El Rosario Club.
In total, our athletes have won 11 medals in the Canary Islands Championship, an impressive figure that reflects the effort, dedication and level of talent present in our team.
