Lanzarote prepares for the new edition of the Isla de Los Volcanes Dirt Rally

Around fifty cars will gather on August 5, 6, 7, and 8 for a scoring event in the Spanish Super Championship.

The Plenary Hall of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa hosted this Thursday the presentation of the twenty-eighth edition of the Isla de Los Volcanes Land Rally - Ciudad de Arrecife Trophy, a scoring event in the Super Championship of Spain that will be held on the island on August 5, 6, 7, and 8.

Present at the presentation were the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, Oswaldo Betancort; the Minister of Physical Activity and Sports, Juan Monzón; the Minister of Territorial Policy, Jesús Machín; the Councilor for Sports of Arrecife, Eli Merino; the president of the Canary Islands Federation of Motor Racing, Miguel Ángel Domínguez; the president of the Las Palmas Federation of Motor Racing, Dani Ponce; and the president of CD Evesport, Víctor Rodríguez; and representatives of the island's town councils. 

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, Oswaldo Betancort, assured that next week the island of Lanzarote will become “the epicenter of national motorsport”. “The competition will attract the fastest drivers in the country to the roads of Lanzarote, a unique setting and for an event that is the sixth scoring round and is also a decisive point of balance in the season,” he added. 

For his part, the Minister of Physical Activity and Sports, Juan Monzón, asserted that this event “is not only important at a national level, but even at an international level”. “Support between administrations is fundamental, and from the Insular Service of Sports, Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism and the area of Tourism, in addition to the support of the Canary Islands Development Fund managed by the vice-president María Jesús Tovar; we have made an effort to continue betting on this event in the sports calendar,” he explained. 

The Minister of Territorial Policy of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Jesús Machín, congratulated the human team of the area, technicians and administrative staff, “for demonstrating that the protection of our environment is absolutely compatible with sports practice.” 

The Cabildo of Lanzarote congratulates CD Evesport, and the Canary Islands and Las Palmas motor racing federations for continuing to bet on the island of Lanzarote as one of the important events on the regional calendar, being also on this occasion a scoring event in the Spanish Super Championship.
