The bay of Arrecife, in Lanzarote, will be the setting this coming weekend for the J80 Series Finals 2024 – Volcano Island Trophy, a competition that will bring together the eight best national crews in the class, who will compete for the last national title of the year.

An event organized by the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, with the support of the Spanish J80 Association, as well as the Royal Canarian Sailing Federation and the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation, and the Cabildo de Lanzarote and Arrecife City Council.

The official presentation of the J80 Series Finals 2024 – Volcano Island Trophy took place at noon this Tuesday on the terrace of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife. The president of the club, Julio Romero, excused his absence for personal reasons, and the event was attended by the Sports Councilor of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Juan Monzón, the president of the Royal Canarian Sailing Federation, Rafael Bonilla, and Óscar López representing the Arrecife City Council, as well as Manuel Torres as head of the nautical section of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife.

Juan Monzón emphasized the importance of “organizing national and international sports events, with the possibility of the J80 League final being held in Arrecife, in a maritime bay that we all boast about” and recalled that “Lanzarote continues to be fashionable in the sport of sailing.”

For his part, Rafael Bonilla thanked “the support we have always had from the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the Arrecife City Council for holding this type of event.” At the same time, he explained that “crews from different autonomous communities come to Lanzarote to fight for a national title, and where sport and tourism go hand in hand again.”

Óscar López considered that “it is a magnificent opportunity to publicize the benefits of our bay of Arrecife” and pointed out that “it will be an event that will help to boost the island's economy.”
