La Santa hosted an exciting day dedicated to the new generations of surfing and bodyboarding with the celebration of the 12th Local CHIRRIMIL Championship. An event that, beyond sports, became once again a meeting point for the youth of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.

From early in the morning, the competitors met in La Santa, Tinajo, to share a day that was much more than a competition. With a close atmosphere, and accompanied by their families both outside and inside the water, the boys and girls up to 16 years old enjoyed the sport in a close and fun experience.

“Everyone left very happy,” said Héctor Rodríguez, co-director of the Lanzarote Quemao Class. “Some of the participants experienced their first competition experience with CHIRRIMIL, and it is a pleasure to see them and share it with them. We closed this 12th edition with expectations of continuing to promote this sport and to see how the pool of local athletes continues to grow. Above all, we want young people to have that opportunity to know what the competition is like and enjoy practicing this sport. We are already waiting for next year to relive CHIRRIMIL,” he added.

This local championship goes far beyond surfing and bodyboarding, it is a reflection of the community that is committed to sport as a link with the environment and as an impulse to build a more active and committed youth.
