Last weekend the Canary Islands School Age Badminton Championship was held in Puerto de la Cruz, which, in addition to having the merit of being a regional champion, had the prize of getting a place in the Spanish Championship. Lanzarote had thirteen young athletes in the under 15 and under 17 categories, obtaining two places for the national tournament.
Martina Negrín and Irene Rodríguez, from the under 15 and under 17 categories, managed to win in their individual finals and will be in the Spanish Championship, which will be held in Cantabria.
The conejera expedition was made up of Raúl Hernández, Adrián Carabali, Luis Hernández, Graciela Muggler, Martina Negrin and Amalia Isabel Soler, all of them from the under 15 category and trained by Caio Genovéz.
In the under-17 category, Daniel Martin, Daniel Rodríguez, Alberto Hernandez, Ainhoa Rico, Irene Rodríguez, Ana Delgado and Amaya Betancor competed, trained by José Ignacio Elvira
The conejeros also achieved two bronzes with a very good taste in the team competition, both in the under 15 and in the under 17 category.
Not everyone got a ticket, but many of them took a third place, which could taste like more. The participation and bronze of many of them stands out, such as the women's doubles of Martina Negrín and Graciela Müggler. In addition, it is also worth mentioning the Mixed Doubles of Luis Hernández and Amalia Isabel Soler, and the Men's Doubles of Adrián Carabali and Raúl Hernández.
In the under 17 category there was also a silver, with Daniel Martín and Daniel Rodríguez taking second place in the Men's Doubles.
