The regular phase of the Women's Silver Division of Honor is entering its final stretch and CB Lanzarote Zonzamas continues to maintain its undefeated status in the national category. The batateras added a new victory on Sunday morning, after winning 19-24 against Balonmano Gijón. A match controlled at all times by the Lanzarote team, although they were not able to increase the lead to close it ahead of time.

From the beginning of the match, Balonmano Gijón proposed a 5:1 defense with Alba Fernández in the advanced position, trying to stifle the ball circulation of CB Lanzarote Zonzamas and prevent the center Ariadna Molina from being comfortable on the court to organize the offensive game of her team. Despite this, the visitors were always ahead on the scoreboard.

The aim of the Zonzamas throwers was not well calibrated at the beginning of the match, and up to five balls crashed into the posts of the goal defended by Andrea Fernández. Jaileme Maldonado sent three shots from the wing to the wood, Ariadna Molina also crashed into the post and Rocío Guerrero sent a 7-meter shot to the crossbar.

After the halfway point of the first half, the match began to break in favor of the Lanzarote team, with Brenda Roger scoring two goals after the time-out requested by Raúl Vallejo. The reaction of the Asturians was immediate, achieving a 3-0 partial to get back into the match (7-8)). After that, the Zonzamas' spurt came to achieve a 1-5 partial in the last minutes of the period, and go to the break with a 5-goal advantage (10-15).

The second half continued to develop under the same script, although on this occasion CB Lanzarote Zonzamas was very thick in attack, with unnecessary losses of the ball and only scoring one goal in the first ten minutes. Juan Rivera requested a time-out when he saw how the opponent was approaching on the scoreboard and was placed three goals away from the tie (13-16).

After the instructions from the bench, Caridad Santana from the pivot and Ingrid Roger were in charge of scoring for the visitors and returning their team to a five-goal advantage. A lead that they knew how to maintain throughout the second half, despite the attempts of Balonmano Gijón to get closer on the scoreboard.

With thirteen minutes remaining in the match, goalkeeper Andrea Fernández was injured, suffering an incident in her knee that prevented her from finishing the match. A field player had to be put under the sticks as there were no more goalkeepers available, with Alba Noriega taking the responsibility of standing in the goal. She could not have had a better debut, stopping a 7-meter shot by Rocío Guerrero in her first intervention.

The difference remained unchanged in the minutes remaining until the end, reaching the conclusion of the match with the result of 19 to 24. It is the seventeenth victory of the current season for CB Lanzarote Zonzamas, and next week they will have to host Oviedo Balonmano Femenino, second classified in the group.
