This Saturday, Playa Honda became the epicenter of sporting excitement with the celebration of the XII edition of the Emmax Crossing, an event that brought together swimmers of all ages and levels in an unforgettable day. The event, which stood out for its inclusive nature, became an emblematic event in the coastal town of San Bartolomé, reflecting both the sporting spirit and the social commitment of the community. In the main 5 km distance, Guillem Puyol and Naira Jaén were crowned as the fastest of the edition.
From the early hours of the morning, Playa Honda was buzzing with an electrifying atmosphere. The participants of the 5 km race were transferred to the historic Puente de las Bolas in Arrecife, the starting point of the crossing. The unbeatable weather conditions allowed the swimmers to enjoy every stroke. At 10:00 a.m., more than 70 swimmers started, facing a high level of competition, as the race counted towards the Canary Islands Cup.
The experienced Spanish swimmer Guillem Puyol crossed the finish line, located on Playa del Curita, Playa Honda, with a record time of 53:45, closely followed by Yare Cocera (54:26) and Gustavo Lourenço (58:28). In the women's category, Naira Jaén took the victory, completing the crossing in 01:01:43 and followed by Silvia Cristina Gopar with a time of 1:10:34. For her part, in third position María Brito (01:10:40) and Sara García (01:11:50), thus forming a podium of great level.
The 2 km race, which started at 11:00 a.m. from Playa de La Concha, offered a vibrant competition. Juan José de Armas was the first to cross the finish line with a time of 22:30, followed by Matías Padrón (22:36) and Luis Signorelli (23:46). In the women's category, Kennedy Hope Demby won with a time of 23:15, with Lily Gopar (24:45) and Natalia Emilia Sasu (25:04) completing the podium. Special mention should be made of the participation of Andrés Martín, two-time Spanish champion of adapted swimming, who was received at the finish line with an emotional human chain of applause, which included the mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez.
The youngest also had their moment of prominence with several circuits adapted to their ages, ranging from 50 meters to 1 km. The enthusiasm of the family members and the general public was fundamental for the young swimmers to cross the finish line with a smile.
The inclusive modality, supported by the “la Caixa” Foundation through Caixabank, played a crucial role, contributing to all participants being able to enjoy the sport in equal conditions.
Finally, the participants of the 1 km distance, which combined beginners and competitors of the Power modality (5 km + 1 km), closed the day with an exciting race. Guillem Puyol (13:24) and Naira Jaén (15:03) repeated as winners in the 1 km race, also achieving the title in the Power modality with times of 01:07:09 and 01:16:46, respectively.
The race also debuted with the 3x300 relay modality, where the team "Tres Mosqueteros del Nadamas" took the victory, followed by "Richi" in second place and "Bewater Training" in third position.

The awards ceremony, which was attended by the mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, and the councilors Alexis Hernández, Raúl de León and Mamadou Yero, put the finishing touch to a memorable edition of the Emmax Playa Honda Crossing. This sporting event was co-organized by B15 Active and the San Bartolomé City Council, with the support of the Sports Area of the Cabildo and Turismo Lanzarote, as well as the Lanzarote and La Graciosa Security and Emergency Consortium.
The organization thanks all the volunteers, inclusion groups, and emergency and rescue personnel, who contributed to the success of this new edition of the Emmax Playa Honda Crossing.
