The coast of Lanzarote was once again filled with color, tradition, and excitement with the return of the 5-meter boats to the sea, one of the most representative sporting expressions of the Canary Islands' nautical identity. After weeks of waiting, the Lanzarote Island Federation of Latin Sail Boats, with the support of the Island Sports Service of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, organized **two regattas corresponding to the seventh and eighth events of the initial calendar**, with outstanding participation and ideal weather conditions for the practice of this local sport. The atmosphere at the regatta course was unbeatable from the early hours of the morning. The teams showed up with their motivation intact and the desire to regain sensations on the sea. Before the start of the trials, the overall standings were led by the Bernasan, followed closely by the Triton and the Graciplus, all separated by a minimal difference due to the fact that only one regatta had been held so far this season. With this panorama, the stakes were high and no skipper wanted to miss the opportunity to be at the top of the table.
The first race of the day was dominated by Tritón, skippered by Kevin Cabrera, who managed to beat Gonzalo Morales' Bernasan, which finished second. Both were tied in the provisional overall standings, followed by Nete Armas' Graciplus, which closed the podium with a solid third position.
The second race brought a change of script. The Fayna, owned by Pedro León, which had finished fifth in the previous race, achieved a brilliant victory that significantly altered the overall standings. In a race of intense rhythm and decisive tactical decisions, the Graciplus once again stood out by crossing the finish line in second place, while the Furia II Renault, owned by the veteran Estanislao Bethencourt, completed the podium with a commendable third position.
After three races in total, the provisional general classification is headed by Nete Armas' Graciplus, with 8 points, followed by Cristian Sánchez's Tritón, with 11 points, and Pedro León's Fayna, with 12 points. A tight difference that anticipates a very competitive and exciting league.
La Liga Lanzarote La Isla Diferente of 5-meter boats will pause next weekend, resuming on October 19 with the rescheduling of the second regatta on the calendar and the celebration of the ninth race. The return of the boats has confirmed, once again, the strength and deep roots of Latin sailing in Lanzarote, where tradition, skill, and passion sail hand in hand once again in each event.
