Club de Judo Teguise Lanzarote participated last weekend in the second league day of the Men's First Division 2022, held in the Villaviciosa de Odón Pavilion with satisfactory results.
On the second day, the team led by Alejandro Ramírez, achieved two defeats, the first two against JC Sotillo (2-1) and against Girona-Judo (3-2). However, it obtained the victory against Ronín of Valencia (3-2) and against J.C. Getafe (2-3), and also managed to win against the Madrid Club Judo Fontenebro (2-3) and against the Canary Akari (1-4).
These results leave the judoka team of Teguise, after two league days played in sixth position in the table of the elite of national judo, with 8 points, only behind J. C. Stabia, leader with 13 points, J.C. Sotillo with 12, Valencia Club de Judo and Girona-Judo with 11 points and CDE Judo Fontenebro with 9 points.
“We had five important casualties, competing with one less judoka and juggling to fit between the different weights. On the third day we will fight to reach the podium”, says the coach, Alejandro Ramírez.
“I consider the victory against Akari, a team from Gran Canaria, to be very important, because belonging to the capital island has many more resources than us in Lanzarote”, adds Ramíres, referring to “infrastructure and, undoubtedly, because the headquarters of the Canarian Judo Federation and associated sports are very close”.
“This is a lesson to take into account, that working hard in Judo and in any sport in the Canary Islands, it does not matter if you belong to a capital island or not, simply that the conditions should be the same for everyone”, concludes Ramírez.
