Since last Wednesday, July 6, Las Cucharas has been the distinguished race course for the third stage of the Wingfoil World Tour 2022. The 60 participating riders have been able to compete in the Surf Freestyle and Surf Slalom disciplines, in a championship endorsed by the Global Wingsports Association.
After four days of intense competition, favored by good wind conditions, Las Cucharas has proclaimed the champions of the Wingfoil World Cup Lanzarote in the different categories, both Freestyle and Slalom.
In Men's Freestyle, the victory went to the Venezuelan debutant Gollito Estredo, while the second position went to the Frenchman Malo Guenole, followed by Balz Müller of Swiss origin, and in fourth place the Spaniard Xavier Corr. The local Yeray García and the Padilla brothers, Pablo and Jorge, were able to compete alongside the internationals, where Jorge stood out, obtaining the highest score on a wave in the championship.

In women's, the victory went to the Czech Paula Novotna, who repeats podium consecutively after her victory in the last stage held in Switzerland. She was followed in the classification by Nia Suardiaz, current Spanish wingfoil champion, and winner of the first competition of the Tour that took place in Leucate, France. And, in third position, was the Frenchwoman Flora Artzner, rider winner in the slalom modality in the races that took place in the previous two stages of the Tour.
In Surf Slalom, in the men's category, the triumph was for Titouan Galea from New Caledonia. As for the women's category, the triumph was for the Spanish Nia Suardiaz.
On Saturday a "super session" was held, where they competed for the best acrobatics, with the Spanish Nia Suardiaz being the winner of the women's category and the American Chris Macdonald the winner of the men's category. In addition to a day of intense competition, this sporting event has also had a space reserved for the preservation of the natural environment.
On Saturday 9, the last day of the championship, a large number of riders, organizers and attendees participated in the collection of waste from the beaches Las Cucharas and Los Charcos, organized by Beach Bar Luca, in collaboration with the GWA, Ocean Beer and Lanzarote Limpia.
