FC Puerto del Carmen had marked in red the match last Saturday against CD Firgas, knowing its importance in the fight for permanence in the Women's First National League. A match in which the players trained by Jack Talbot forgot the casualties in the offensive zone and took the three points that were at stake to escape from the relegation zone of the classification.
The match did not have a clear dominator in the first minutes, although it was CD Firgas who was better planted on the field. The visitors created their first chance in the 13th minute, with a shot by Rosa at the near post that met Naza well positioned under the posts.
The response from FC Puerto del Carmen came in the form of a goal and the locals went ahead on the scoreboard in the 17th minute of the first half. Janet was in charge of executing a corner kick, Manuela could not finish in the first instance and Nieves took advantage of the loose ball inside the area to send it into the back of the net.
The goal gave the local players a lot of peace of mind, being in charge of marking the times of the match. After the first half hour, they were able to increase the differences with a ball between the lines from Nieves that allowed Janet to stand alone in front of the visiting goalkeeper, but her high shot was saved by Paula.
The second half began with a double chance for CD Firgas in the 54th minute. The first shot by Melisa was deflected by Naza from below and the rejected ball fell again to Melisa, who again met the good intervention of Naza to avoid the equalizing goal.
As happened in the first half, the response from FC Puerto del Carmen would come in the form of a goal just four minutes later. Janet controlled a ball in the vicinity of the area, and her shot from the edge of the area surpassed the stretch of goalkeeper Paula. A second goal that gave much more peace of mind to the locals.
In the final stretch of the match, CD Firgas cut the deficit through Fátima and put fear into the players of Puerto del Carmen. The sentence came in a counterattack when four minutes had passed over the regulation time, with Kiara entering through the right wing, cutting back her defender inside the area and putting the ball out of reach of goalkeeper Paula.
3-1 victory for FC Puerto del Carmen against CD Firgas, three points that allow the team from Tías to increase their advantage over the relegation zone to 12 points, and practically have permanence in the Women's First National League in their pocket. The competition will resume after Easter, with the team from Tías visiting Atlético Perdoma, bottom of the category.
