The Las Teresitas beach in Santa Cruz de Tenerife hosted the fourth edition of the Las Teresitas Optimist International Regatta this weekend, an event that featured the participation of eight sailors from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife. Over a weekend marked by harsh wind and wave conditions, the Lanzarote sailors dominated the competition, with absolute victories from Fayna Tavío and Julián Suárez standing out

The expedition from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife that traveled to Tenerife was made up of Fayna Tavío Gutiérrez, Julián Suárez Sperner, Santiago Bravo de Laguna Ferrer, Alfonso Garcías Cruz, Leandro de la Hoz Chávez, Pelayo Sánchez Reguero, María Rizo García, and Valentina de la Hoz Chávez. The eight sailors were accompanied by coaches Carlos Hidalgo and Hugo Robayna.

The Las Teresitas International Optimist Regatta was marked by the harsh wind and wave conditions of the first two days, with eight of the nine scheduled races ultimately being held. From the first day, the sailors from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife positioned themselves at the top of the general standings, demonstrating their skill on the Santa Cruz de Tenerife racecourse.

Fayna Tavío took victory in the Las Teresitas International Regatta, showing great consistency throughout the weekend, and the disqualification in Sunday's final race did not prevent the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife sailor from achieving overall victory. Furthermore, Fayna Tavío also secured the win in the U16 female category.

Julián Suárez had a competition that started slow and improved, perfectly recovering from the disqualification suffered in the first race on Friday. The sailor from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife won two of the races and climbed positions in the standings. Finally, Julián Suárez was the second-place finisher in the Las Teresitas International Regatta, and took victory in the U13 and U16 male categories.

They were not the only podiums conquered by the Lanzarote sailors. Santiago Bravo de Laguna was the third classified in the male sub-13 category, and Leandro de la Hoz climbed to the second step of the podium in the male sub-11 category.

The president of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, Julio Romero, wanted to highlight "the excellent performance by the club's sailors in the fourth edition of the Las Teresitas International Optimist Regatta" and specifically congratulates "Fayna Tavío and Julián Suárez for taking the top two positions overall, and for winning their respective categories".
