Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote - Soliss Pozuelo

Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote demonstrated its good form by defeating Soliss BM Pozuelo 21-27 at the Las Espartanas Pavilion. From the beginning, the batatero team imposed its style of play, achieving a partial score of 0-3 with goals from Andrea Claramonte and the Roger sisters, and showing a firm defense that blocked the local team's attempts.

Pozuelo took time to find the way to the opposing goal and did not score its first goal until the 10th minute, when Noelia Domínguez broke the zero on the scoreboard. Even so, Zonzamas maintained control and by the middle of the first half led with a resounding 2-8, with a solid defense and Valentina Menucci secure between the posts. Although some inaccuracies allowed Pozuelo to get closer, the local team failed to settle into their game.

An exclusion of Luana Schallmey in the 24th minute opened a small window for the locals, who went to two goals, but Zonzamas reacted in time and went to halftime with a lead of 9-13. The second half began with an exchange of goals, but Zonzamas maintained its dominance, extending the lead thanks to a penalty save by Menucci followed by a goal from Gabriela Romero, which put the score at 12-19 in the 7th minute.

Although Pozuelo tried to cut the deficit with a double save by Paula Quiles that encouraged the locals, Zonzamas quickly reconnected and by the 15th minute was already imposing 14-20. Pozuelo tried to change its defense to a more open formation, seeking to cut off Zonzamas' offensive connections, but the adjustment did not have the expected effect and the Canary team maintained control.

By the 25th minute, the visitors were comfortably ahead, 18-24. The last minutes passed without surprises, with Zonzamas dominating both in defense and attack and securing the victory with a definitive 21-27. After chaining two defeats last week in the league and Copa de la Reina, these two points were vital for Zonzamas in their fight to stay in the top positions of the table. Next week they will receive the always elusive Adesal Córdoba, in a match in which the team will seek to consolidate this recovery.
