CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen suffered its second defeat of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling against one of the teams that is expected to fight to play in the promotion play-offs at the end of the season. CB Puerto del Carmen was not comfortable on the court, running into a fierce defense and the interventions of the visiting goalkeeper who spoiled the afternoon for the Tiñosera attack.
The first minutes of the match were marked by the exchange of goals, with Adesal Córdoba taking the initiative on the scoreboard from the start. A goal by Lorena Rocío put Puerto del Carmen ahead for the first time (5-4). It was costing Puerto del Carmen a lot of work to overcome the Adesal Córdoba defense and at least maintained the differences to a few goals.
After the halfway point of the first half, Adesal Córdoba managed to distance themselves by three goals and took advantage of Lorena Rocío's exclusion. Jesús Casanova requested the first timeout of the match. The equality continued to be maintained in the minutes remaining until the end of the first half.
The decisions of the refereeing couple were not pleasing either team, with both coaches being excluded in the final stretch of the period. With the score of 13 to 14, the first half came to an end, a result that kept the match open for the second half.
In the second half, Adesal Córdoba continued to maintain the lead on the scoreboard. The Andalusians increased the lead to three goals in the 9th minute, a circumstance that forced the coach of Puerto del Carmen to request a new timeout. After the instructions from the bench, Luiza María scored a goal for Adesal Córdoba and established the maximum lead for the visitors (16-20).
With five minutes left in the match, Kenia Hernández scored a goal that reduced the difference of Adesal Córdoba to the minimum expression (23-24). It was the visiting team that knew how to play the final minutes of the match better, being tough again in defense and the goalkeeper succeeding in her interventions under the posts.
CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen suffered three exclusions consecutively in the final stretch of the match. Lorena Rocío, Kenia Hernández were excluded for two minutes and coach Jesñus Casanova was disqualified with a blue card for protests towards the referees of the match. Puerto del Carmen ended up despairing and with the result of 23 to 27 the match came to an end.
The second defeat of the season for CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen places the Lanzarote team in fifth position in the standings, although the equality is being maximum in this start of the campaign. In the next match, Puerto del Carmen travels to Murcia to face UCAM Murcia, a match that will be played on Sunday morning.
