Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote does not have the freshness shown at the end of the first round of the competition and it was once again demonstrated that the Christmas break came at the worst time. After a month, handball returned on Saturday afternoon to the Titerroy Municipal Pavilion, an impregnable facility throughout the entire season and which on this occasion was stormed by the PAN Moguer team. Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote was unable to close a match that it was winning by four goals with five minutes remaining, and saw the Huelva team take the victory in the last second of the match. Painful defeat that makes the conejero team depend on Cátedra 70 to maintain the second position in the standings.
From the first minute of the game, the equality was maximum on the court, with minimal differences being marked in this first part, although the score was always in favor of Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote. The local team jumped onto the court with its usual 6:0 defense, although it was not as strong as on previous occasions. And PAB Moguer played with a 5:1 defense trying to stop Nelson Espino and Agustín Robert, preventing these players from doing damage from the pivot or the center of the defense.
The match had different phases in the game that prevented the difference on the scoreboard from being greater. In the 18th minute, Ciudad de Arrecife took a two-goal lead (8-6), a difference that was aborted by PAN Moguer with a 0-2 partial. The visitors lost Fernando Sánchez in the 24th minute of the match, a player who was disqualified with a straight red card for a defensive action. With a few seconds left until the end of the first half, Nelson Espino put Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote ahead and in a bad defensive action by the local team, Sergio Cruzado tied the game. At halftime, the score was 12 to 12.
The second half of the match began with a 2-0 partial in favor of Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote. The team led by Jesús Casanova improved in this second half, having better ball circulation in attack actions and always looking for the best option. This allowed the advantage to increase to four goals in the 12th minute (19-15), with the PAN Moguer coach calling a time-out to cut the local team's dynamic.
PAN Moguer reacted after the time-out requested by Fernando Castelló and achieved a 0 to 2 partial that brought them closer to the score again, keeping the visiting team alive. Once again, Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote increased the lead to four goals and it seemed that this was going to be the definitive difference due to the little time left until the end of the match. It was not like that, with Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote letting slip a match that it had won.
Antonio Carreño prevented PAN Moguer from tying in the 28th minute, making a very meritorious intervention against the counterattack carried out by Daniel Podadera. With 45 seconds left until the end of the match, Sergio Cruzado established the tie by transforming a seven-meter action. The last attack of Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote was defective, losing the ball in attack and allowing Daniel Podadera to score the winning goal for PAN Moguer in the last second.
Anger from the coaching staff for the last action of the match and disappointment among the players to see how a match they had won slipped away. The defeat leaves Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote in second position, tied on 21 points with Cátedra 70, although the Cátedra team has one game less. In the next match, Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote visits BM Villafranca, second to last in the standings and a favorable court to return to the path of victories.
