When Club Baloncesto Conejero announced that this year was going to be an exciting year for the EBA League team, especially for the players on the island, they were totally convinced that a great job can be done with the Lanzarote youth academy reinforced with some foreign players.
After the signing of Cándido Matoso and the renewal of Elvis Pereira and Richard Nguema, comes the promotion to the first team of Christian Rodríguez Cejas, a player who joined the orange club at the age of 5 and that 13 years later and after going through all the youth teams of the club, will enter the dynamics of the EBA team.
Christian Rodríguez already debuted with Aloe Plus Lanzarote Conejeros in the 18/19 season, having a few seconds against CD Daimiel. They were not enough to demonstrate his worth, but perseverance and sacrifice have led him to definitively defend the colors of the representative club of the island in men's basketball.
Although he is a player who can participate as a shooting guard or winger, this season he will play as a point guard or shooting guard, standing out for his penetration towards the basket and the vision of the game towards his teammates.
"I am very grateful to the club for giving me this opportunity to play in the EBA league, because for me it is a great reward for all these years of effort and work," said the young player when confirming his participation with the first team.
"At a collective level, I hope to have a good season working hard and making a good group, which in the end is the most important thing," explained the player about the upcoming season, adding that "at a personal level, I hope to improve and be able to help the team in everything I can."
Finally, Christian Rodríguez explained that "the project seems very striking to me, counting on people from the island essentially and basing our game on counterattacks and running until we can't anymore, which is a sign of identity of the Conejero and I have been doing it since my beginnings."
With Christian Rodríguez, another signing is closed for Aloe Plus Lanzarote Conejeros, which continues working to have a squad as Lanzarote and competitive as possible, with the aim of being in the top positions of the standings.
