Check the road closures in all the municipalities of Lanzarote due to the Ironman celebration

Several roads and paths in the seven municipalities of Lanzarote will be temporarily closed to vehicle traffic at different times.

The Public Works and Sports areas of the Cabildo of Lanzarote have announced temporary closures on several roads on the island for the celebration of the new edition of the IronMan this coming Saturday, May 18. Detours will occur in all municipalities of Lanzarote.

The Councilor for Public Works, Jacobo Medina, details that “with these closures on the island we intend to ensure that the IronMan takes place in complete safety for both the competitors and the people who come to see them.” In addition, Medina positively values the coordination between the areas and apologizes to the citizens for the inconvenience caused by these detours.

The Councilor for Sports, Juan Monzón, assures for his part that this event is “without a doubt, one of the most important events on the island's sports calendar.” “Ironman and Lanzarote are practically indivisible words, and it is a pride to be able to celebrate it one more year."

The closures will be carried out at different times. Las Playas Avenue, in Tías, will remain closed from 06:00 to 01:00 hours. The Hoya Limpia road, also in this municipality, from 06:30 to 19:00. Between 07:00 and 19:00, Norway Street, the road from the Airport to Puerto del Carmen, the Central Avenue of Tías and the road that connects Los Lirios with La Geria will be closed.

Between 07:30 and 13:00 hours several sections of roads will be closed. The LZ-30, which connects La Geria with Uga, will be closed until 11:30; the street to La Geria and the LZ-2, direction Yaiza from Uga, until 12:00; and the LZ-2, which continues to Playa Blanca, will be reopened to traffic from 13:00 hours. In addition, it will not be possible to circulate on the road that connects Mancha Blanca with La Geria from 7:30 to 18:30 hours.

From 08:00 the road that unifies Yaiza with Mancha Blanca will be closed until 13:30 hours. From 08:30 Mancha Blanca Avenue and Tinguatón Street will be closed until 13:30 hours. Likewise, the LZ-30 will be cut in several sections: the road from La Geria to Masdache will remain closed from 08:00 to 19:00 hours; the section from Masdache to the Monument to the Peasant from 08:30 to 18:30 hours; and the section that runs along the road from Monumento a La Villa from 08:00 to 18:00 hours.

Bentejuí, Guayadeque and Leandro Perdomo Spínola streets will be closed from 09:00 to 13:00 hours. And from 09:00 to 17:30 José Betancort Street, the LZ-10 that connects La Villa with Haría, the service road from Tahíche to Guatiza, and the road that goes from Guatiza to La Villa.

During 10:00 and 15:30 hours, traffic is interrupted on La Cilla, La Cruz, María Herrera, Portillo de Bonilla, Santa Bárbara and San Francisco streets, all in the municipality of Haría. From 10:30 to 16:00 the roads that connect Yé with Máguez (LZ-201) and with the Mirador del Río (LZ-203) will be closed, and the section of the LZ-202 that connects Hoya de la Pila with the Mirador.

Finally, from 10:30 to 16:30 hours the road that runs from Yé to Arrieta will be affected and from 10:00 to 17:00 hours the road that connects Arrieta and Guatiza.

Both the Public Works and Sports areas apologize to the citizens of the island for the inconvenience caused by these closures and request that drivers respect the provisional signs.
