Good sensations left by the first preparation match played by CB Lanzarote Zonzamas, after winning 19 to 25 against CB Salud Tenerife in the match corresponding to the 1st round of the Canary Islands Government Cup. The Lanzarote team was in charge of setting the pace of the match and put into practice on the court what they had worked on throughout the last weeks of training.
The match began with the usual exchange of goals, with some inaccuracies as a result of being the first rehearsal of the preseason. A 7-meter shot transformed by Ariadna Molina and a goal by Chaxiraxi Hernández gave CB Lanzarote Zonzamas the first advantage (1-2). An initiative on the scoreboard that the Lanzarote team would maintain throughout the match.
The advantage in favor of CB Lanzarote Zonzamas was one or two goals, an income that would increase in the middle of the first half. The goals of Brenda Roger and Rocío Guerrero put the 5 to 9 on the scoreboard, being until that moment the maximum difference. At halftime the match reached the result of 7 to 12 in favor of the Lanzarote team.
Both teams strived during the second half to offer their best version of the game and the difference remained at five goals. The match was definitively broken in the middle of this second period, when the two goals of the pivot Mariangeles de Uriarte and the goal of Chaxi Hernández put the 13 to 20. In addition, the Zonzamas defense managed to keep their rival without scoring for more than eight minutes.
The attempts of Salud Tenerife to get fully into the fight for the victory did not give the expected results and CB Lanzarote Zonzamas perfectly managed the advantage obtained. Coach Juan Rivera took advantage of the match to give minutes to all the players and grease the machinery. The offensive contribution of Brenda Roger stood out, scoring 8 goals the player from Majorera.
With the result of 19 to 25 the match came to an end, adding CB Lanzarote Zonzamas the first victory in the Canary Islands Government Cup. On Monday the players will return to training again, working to arrive in the best conditions at the beginning of the season in the Women's Silver Honor Division scheduled for the end of September.
