CB Zonzamas CICAR Lanzarote's participation in the Canary Islands Cup ended with a defeat against CB Rocasa Gran Canaria by 27 to 22. The Lanzarote team showed a great level of play and put one of the teams called to be in the upper zone of the Iberdrola Guerreras League in trouble on several occasions during the match. The Teldense team, who remain undefeated this preseason, took the victory and the conquest of this summer title before their home crowd.

CB Zonzamas struggled to get into the game and the locals took advantage of those first minutes of uncertainty in the conejeras' game to put a 3-0 on the scoreboard. But little by little Juan Rivera's team adjusted their defense and with quick transitions got into the game.

The local team moved the bench in search of increasing the advantage on the scoreboard but the batatero team did not allow it, printing a lot of speed in the
offensive plays with Gleinys Reyes as the main protagonist. At halftime, the score was a tight 13-10.

The beginning of the second half was a bit rushed for both teams. Imprecisions were present and there were goals in both goals quickly.
Quickly. Little by little, both Rocasa and Zonzamas settled on the court looking for solidity. The quality of some of the Rocasa players came to light in these moments to unblock the match in favor of the Gran Canaria team and put a +3 advantage (18-15).

The local team's game began to flow more easily and there were several counterattacks in a row that ended in a goal, giving Robert's players
Cuesta the biggest advantage of the entire match (22-16). Juan Rivera asked for a time-out to reorganize his players on the court and try to reduce the
differences on the scoreboard.

In the last 10 minutes, Zonzamas did a lot to try to get closer on the scoreboard. However, the Teldenses knew how to tie up the
result showing their good harmony in this preseason achieving a new victory (27-22).

The coach of the Lanzarote team is satisfied with the attitude shown by his players not only in this match but also in the Cup. “The match started quite well with a very even first half and we maintained the intensity throughout the match, although we are leaving with a defeat, we must be happy to have been competitive against one of the best teams in the Iberdrola League,” Rivera commented.

Regarding the preseason, he believes that “a great job has been done in these weeks even with the absence of Jailene Maldonado, who will join the team in a few weeks.” Finally, the coach highlights the second place achieved in this competition, being a newly promoted team, “it is something that motivates us to be optimistic about the start of the season.”
