Important victory in the ninth round of the Honor Division Gold of CB Zonzamas CICAR Lanzarote to continue aiming high in the standings, now occupying the fifth place, tied on points with the fourth and only five from the lead.

Soliss BM Pozuelo de Calatrava did not make things easy, despite the fact that Patro Barambio's team proved once again to be far superior in the 40x20. The Ciudad Real team took advantage of the rojinegras' less fresh minutes to gradually get into the game and maintain their chances of scoring until the end.

As usual, the efforts to take control of the match were in defensive work. Both teams stood well in 6:0, so much so that the scoreboard would not suffer major variations, with the first five minutes ending in a 1-1 draw.

The first to find the goal were the visitors, but after the tie, the goals returned in the seventh minute by Brenda Roger. A quick incursion by the Majorera put her team ahead for the first time in the match. The rojinegras would dominate the scoreboard from then on, although that did not mean that Soliss BM Pozuelo was willing to give up easily, even putting the batateras on the ropes.

CB Zonzamas CICAR Lanzarote was outstanding in its area, with a very advanced defensive line that caused the visitors' mistakes, in addition to promoting the recovery of the ball by intercepting passes, although the good retreat of Soliss BM Pozuelo prevented the locals from expanding on the counterattack.

The visiting coach was forced to call a time-out after the first quarter of an hour of the match to prevent the rojinegras from extending their lead (6-3). The break was good for the Pozoleñas, who managed to tie the game with ten minutes left until halftime (7-7), after recovering several balls and successfully finishing on the counterattack.

Barambio then began to move the bench to give more freshness to his players. It was then that Gleinys Reyes appeared twice to return control to CB Zonzamas CICAR Lanzarote. A prudent Berenice Frelier was also seen, who seems to be adapting to the team's scheme, showing off her great outside shot.

The great local defense even prevented Soliss BM Pozuelo from finishing with a shot, having to cede possession due to passivity. This was added to several counterattacks with which the locals achieved a four-goal advantage, concluding the first half with a 14-10.

The second half came with many inaccuracies on the part of the rojinegras, although they maintained their advantage on the scoreboard thanks to the work of Susi Sánchez in goal. The visiting goalkeeper also intervened to leave a game that was going crazy at times, with a CB Zonzamas CICAR Lanzarote that did not have the necessary temper to not benefit the Ciudad Real team.

The brilliance of Brenda Roger and Gleinys Reyes to find Cari Santana in the pivot area, allowed to extend the differences with a Soliss BM Pozuelo that began to dare with the outside shot.

The fifteen minutes of the second half were completed with Brenda Roger leaving part of the defense in the air with an incredible feint to reach six meters and transform the 10-16. But the unforced errors in the opposite court and playing with numerical inferiority meant that the visitors managed to get back into the game, placing themselves just two goals away from a tie in the fiftieth minute.

Ana Martín also appeared in goal to avoid the surprise of the visitors, although CB Zonzamas CICAR Lanzarote had been playing with fire for some time, reaching the last minute with a score of 26-25 and with a player excluded.

With six seconds left, Mary Sánchez cut off a vital counterattack pass, leaving Soliss BM Pozuelo without options, who only had 3 seconds of possession left to try to achieve the tie with seven players on the attack. The visitors did not find the goal, so the end of the match was sealed with a 26-24 that allows the batatero team to climb one more step in the standings.

The good reading of this day once again shows a CB Zonzamas CICAR Lanzarote capable of carrying the weight of the match and that is better than the opponent. But the temporary disconnection in moments of the match once again plays a trick on them, leaving alive the options of a rival that was not comfortable at any time of the match.

This new victory allows to arrive with good feelings to the great derby of Lanzarote scheduled for this Saturday, December 17, with CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife waiting for the visit in the municipal hall of Titerroy.
