The XLVIII San Ginés Handball Tournament kicked off on Friday afternoon with the match between Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife and Balonmano Ingenio, two teams that will face each other again this season in the Men's First National Division. San José Obrero showed that the machinery is gradually getting oiled, achieving a resounding victory by imprinting a lot of speed to each of its actions on the playing court.
Balonmano Lanzarote was quick to take the initiative on the scoreboard, with Adrián Juárez and Aday González scoring the first two goals. Two goals that came in quick attacking transitions from the local team, making it clear that this could be one of the hallmarks of the team this season. The Lanzarote team increased the lead to five goals in the first few minutes (12-7).
Balonmano Ingenio tried not to leave the match and even managed to get within three goals. Several losses in attack by the locals allowed Luis Hernández and Bentor Déniz to score (13-10). Ángel Iglesias, Abián Martín and Aco Martín, put the score at 16-10 on the scoreboard, prompting the Balonmano Ingenio coach to call a time-out (16-10). At the end of the first half, the score was 22-12.
The second half of the match had hardly any history, due to the wide difference reflected on the scoreboard. David Betancort took the opportunity to give minutes to all the players, having one seven during the first fifteen minutes and another seven in the final fifteen minutes. The players of Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife did not lift their foot off the accelerator, and continued to increase the difference.
With the result of 40 to 24 the match came to an end, with Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife adding the first victory of the XLVIII San Ginés Handball Tournament. The tournament will continue this Saturday with the match between Desatascos Jumbo Gáldar and Balonmano Ingenio, starting at 6:00 p.m.
Before that, Balonmano Lanzarote will face "Sermarther" Ciudad de Tacoronte, in the first round of the Copa Gobierno de Canarias.
