Unión Sur Yaiza doesn't do badly against teams that occupy the top of the Third Division standings, achieving an important victory against CD Mensajero on Sunday afternoon. The southerners make a statement and sneak back into the top four in the Third Division, after a very serious match in which they handcuffed CD Mensajero. Ubay and Javi Melián were the authors of the victory goals.
From the first minute of the match, Unión Sur Yaiza knew how to play Mensajero to make them feel uncomfortable on the field. The Lanzarote team pressured the palmeros' ball exit and were very well organized defensively. The minutes went by without any dangerous chances in either of the two areas, with most of the game taking place in the wide area of the field.
The clearest chances would come from the 30th minute of the first half. The lack of aim of the Mensajero players and the good actions of the goalkeeper Ruymán, prevented the local team from taking the lead on the scoreboard. Unión Sur Yaiza tried in the 36th minute. Javi Melián starred in a good individual move and his cross shot went just wide. The first half of the match ended with a goalless draw.
At the beginning of the second half, CD Mensajero tried to give more rhythm to their game and was the one who starred in the first dangerous actions. In the 54th minute, a cross from Jaime from the left wing was headed by Dani López and the ball ended up crashing into the crossbar of the goal defended by Ruymán.
The response from Unión Sur Yaiza was immediate and came in the form of a goal. Ubay stars in a good individual move and with a mid-height shot beats the goalkeeper Kilian. The goal reinforced the game idea of the team trained by Carlos Ramírez, encountering a Mensajero that crashed again and again with the orderly visiting defense.
The Lanzarote team would increase the differences on the scoreboard in the 68th minute of the match. Javi Melián takes advantage of a slip by Silvano to stand alone inside the area and with a good low definition made it 0-2 for Unión Sur Yaiza.
CD Mensajero tried until the end of the match, without success in front of goal and seeing how the possibility of remaining undefeated this season at Silvestre Carrillo vanished. The clearest option was starred by Yeray with a free kick, the ball going very close to the Yaiza goal.
After ten matchdays without knowing defeat as a local, Unión Sur Yaiza stormed the Silvestre Carrillo and achieved a victory that puts them back among the top four in the category. A Yaiza that was very serious at all times, with a good defensive order and a tactical drawing that ended up despairing the players of CD Mensajero.
