The members of the Auria Badminton Club had to compete at home, participating over the weekend in the TOP TTR Lanzarote, a tournament that took place at the IES Blas Cabrera Felipe facilities. A total of 14 players from the club took part in the event held in the island's capital, with a balance of 3 gold medals, 3 silvers, and 3 bronzes.
A weekend in which the performance of Álvaro Guadalupe and David Rodríguez stood out, as they were proclaimed champions of the under-11 and under-13 categories, respectively, and also of the under-13 men's doubles.
The Auria Badminton Club's competition team that participated in the TOP TTR Lanzarote included Guillermo Padrón, Isaac Rincón, Álvaro Guadalupe, Hugo de la Paz Paradas, Jacob López, David Rodríguez, Nerea Padrón, Yraya García, Lucía Rincón, Amel Guanchez, Sarah Lamont, José María Abad, Margarita Torres, and Lynda Gausmann. They were accompanied over the weekend by coaches Miguel Barbado, Jorge Pérez, Oliver Gausmann, and Zhi Tao Li.
In the boys' U11 category, Álvaro Guadalupe fulfilled his status as the tournament's number one seed, and advanced to the semi-final round by defeating Mateo Velázquez (15-9, 15-7) and Neyzan Roque Pérez (15-3, 15-4). In the penultimate round, he got rid of Francisco José González (15-6, 15-10) and in the grand final he beat Manuel Cabrera (15-12, 15-7), to win the gold medal.
David Rodríguez, in the U13 men's category, started as the number three seed, and the competition was held in a direct elimination format. In the round of sixteen, he defeated Gorka Luján (21-4, 21-6) and in the quarterfinals, Álvaro Acosta (21-23, 22-11, 21-13). The Auria Badminton Club player won in the semifinals against Yael Saavedra (22-20, 21-15), and in the grand final, he defeated Airam David Steux (21-17, 21-14), reaching the top of the podium.
Álvaro Guadalupe and David Rodríguez teamed up in the men's doubles of the under-13 category, becoming champions of the TOP TTR Lanzarote. The young players from the Auria Badminton Club reached the final by defeating Alex García – Gorka Luján (21-4, 16-0). And in the grand final, they won the gold medal by defeating Antonio Jesús Fumero – Aarón Mayor (21-15, 21-18). The players from Auria Badminton Club achieved three silver medals in the Lanzarote TTR TOP. In the Women's Popular category, Sarah Lamont climbed to the second step of the podium after defeating Margarita Torres (22-24, 21-14, 21-18), Lynda Gausmann (21-5, 21-8) and Leire Suárez (21-17, 16-21), with her only defeat against Raquel Pino Monzón (16-21, 10-21), the player who started as the number one seed.
In the doubles category, Hugo de la Paz and Isaac Rincón won the silver medal in the U11 men's doubles, and the pair formed by Sarah Lamont and Margarita Torres also climbed to the second step of the podium in the women's doubles in the Popular category.
The Auria Badminton Club's medal count in the TOP TTR Lanzarote was completed with three bronze medals. Those achieved by José María Abad and Lynda Gausmann in the mixed doubles of the Popular category, by Jacob López and Nerea Padrón in the mixed doubles of the under 13 category, and that of Guillermo Padrón together with Jia Ye Lin (Raqueta Club) in the men's doubles under 11.
