The National Badminton Second Division Club League returned this past weekend with an event in the town of San Juan de la Rambla, in Tenerife, with the celebration of the second day of the competition. The Auria Badminton Club had a brilliant performance, winning in the three scheduled matches and allowing them to stand alone as leader at the head of the competition.
The participation of the Auria Badminton Club began with the match against the Universitario “B”, achieving victory in the five matches played and not conceding any sets. In the individual category, Ana María Mesa defeated Yaiza Torres (11-5,11-6, 11-5) and Adrián Carabali achieved victory against Diego González (11-5, 11-5, 11-3).
In the doubles category, the pair formed by Graciela Müggler and Zeneida Ortiz achieved victory against Nayara Baute and Marta Rodríguez (11-4, 11-5, 11-1) and Martín Barbado and Oliver Gausmann won against Jorge Martínez and Javier Peña (11-4, 11-9, 11-7). And in mixed doubles, Adrián Carabali and Graciela Müggler defeated Juan José Rodríguez and Elisa Mora (11-5, 11-2, 11-3).
More even was the second match on Saturday against RSL Tenerife, two teams that arrived without knowing defeat and which was decided on the side of the Auria Badminton Club by a tight 3 to 2. The triumph was on track with the victories of Miguel Barbado against Nicolás Les (11-6, 11-4, 11-9) and of Zeneida Ortiz against Paula Gutiérrez (11-8, 11-4, 11-8) in the individual category. The third point was achieved in the men's doubles by brothers Miguel and Martín Barbado, prevailing over Alejandro Caballero and Marcos Fajardo (7-11, 11- 5, 11-8, 11-9).
The day concluded with the match against Tenerife “B” and the Auria Badminton Club obtaining victory by 5 to 0. In the individual category, Ana María Mesa prevailed over Paula Muñoz (11-10, 11-8, 6-11, 11-5) and Adrián Carabali won against Quimey Cabeza (11,7, 11-4, 11-4).
In the doubles, Oliver Gausmann and Hendrik Olschewski defeated Dario Dámaso and Pablo Pérez (11-9, 10-11, 11-5, 10-11, 11-8) and Ana María Mesa and Laura María Solis won against Irene Méndez and Alma Socas (11-6, 11-6, 11-2). And in mixed doubles, Hendrik Olschewski and Laura María Solis obtained the triumph against Pablo Pérez and Nekal Padrón (11-6, 11-3, 11-5).
With these results, the Auria Badminton Club is placed at the head of the classification of the National Second Division Club League, adding a total of 18 points, and ahead of the rest of the pursuers by three.
The next day will be played on March 22 in the town of El Rosario, in Tenerife, with the Auria Badminton Club facing Tiguaneje, Santa Úrsula Badnor, Caparina Bádminton and Badfor El Sauzal on Saturday, and on Sunday Víctor Team and Universitario “A”.
