Langreo (Asturias) was the setting last week for the Spanish Championship of Autonomous Communities (CESA) in School Age and Inclusive Badminton, an event in which the Canary Islands team made history by reaching the podium for the first time in the inclusive category.

Among the members of the Canary Islands team, the participation of Atenea Morales, a player from Lanzarote Raqueta Club, stood out, who contributed significantly to the team's success. Along with her, the team was completed by Eduardo de León, Mateo de Luis, Sulimar Cabrera, Pablo Gómez, César Mateo Camejo, Dario Perera, Graciela Müggler and Celia Cabrera.

The road to the medal began in the group stage with a solid victory by 3-0 against Melilla. In the second match, the Canary Islands faced a powerful Andalusian team, which won by 3-0. Despite the setback, the Canary Islands team advanced to the semifinals, where they signed a great performance winning by 2-0 against the Valencian Community, thus securing their place on the podium and making history for the inclusive badminton of the islands.

In the final, destiny crossed the Canary Islanders with Andalusia again. The Andalusians repeated their triumph with a 2-0, but nothing tarnishes the achievement of the Canary Islands team, which won a meritorious silver medal.

This success not only represents a step forward for inclusive sport in the Canary Islands, but also underlines the work and commitment of athletes such as Atenea Morales, whose participation has been key in this unprecedented achievement.
