The Ariagona Lanzarote 3X3 team achieved this Saturday the Canary Islands U17 3X3 runner-up title and direct qualification for the Spanish Championship after falling in the final against La Laguna Toyota Adareva (20-12), in a tournament held on the Arrecife court of IES Salinas.
Despite the defeat, Ariagona Lanzarote will travel, as the second-best team in the Canary Islands, to compete in the Spanish Championship which will be held in Santiago de Compostela from June 12 to 14.
The red team, composed of Tayri Bravo, Inmaculada Avero, Daima Karen Sidibe, Fátima Anahí Wieland, and Aitana Morán, and managed by Pablo Blanco and Juan Carlos Arrocha as delegate, defeated Telde 3X3-10 in their tournament debut in group East (15-3), lost to Magec Tías (8-14), and defeated Telde 3x3-09 (9-17). In the group stage, they lost to Villa de Tegueste (12-9), won by a narrow margin in the fratricidal duel against Ariagona Volcán (13-14), and tasted victory again in the last match against EMB Adeje (18-8). In the decisive knockout rounds, they won again by a narrow margin against Telde 3x3-09 (12-13), falling in the final against the Tenerife team Adareva (20-12).
At the trophy ceremony, held in the Blas Cabrera pavilion, the Arrecife players celebrated their passport to the state tournament alongside their teammates and family members who came down to the court to immortalize a historic moment for women's basketball in Lanzarote.
