UD Lanzarote continues to advance in the planning of its new sports project and has closed the incorporation of Ángel López as coach of the first team for the 2025/2026 season. The coach from Gran Canaria will assume the challenge of leading the rojillo team that will compete again in the Canarian group of the Third Federation.
Ángel Domingo López Ruano, born on March 10, 1981, debuted as a coach in the Third Federation at the head of UD Villa de Santa Brígida, where he remained for two seasons. In the first, he managed to qualify the team for the promotion play-off, eliminating UD Lanzarote in the first round. In his second year, he secured permanence and led them to reach the final of the José Antonio Ruiz Caballero Cup.
His career on the bench also includes experience as a second coach. In the 2017/2018 season he was Suso Hernández's assistant at UD Las Palmas Atlético (Second Federation) and in 2019/2020 he took charge of the Juvenil B of UD Las Palmas. Later, in the 2020/2021 season, he became part of the coaching staff of the first team of UD Las Palmas as Pepe Mel's assistant.
As a footballer, Ángel López developed an outstanding career in the elite of Spanish football, wearing the shirts of UD Las Palmas, RC Celta de Vigo, Villarreal CF and Real Betis. His quality as a right back led him to debut with the Spanish National Team on November 15, 2006, in a friendly against Romania.
With his arrival, Ángel López becomes the maximum technical manager of the first team of UD Lanzarote for the next season. After closing part of the composition of the technical staff, with Sergio Hernández as sports director and Iván Manrique as technical secretary, the club continues working to prepare the squad.
