The young karateka from the Karate Poliarrecife Club has won the bronze medal in the Karate World League that was held from August 8 to 11 in the Mexican Riviera Maya, in the Cadet Female Kumite -61 kg category.
This event of the World Karate Federation brought together more than 800 karatekas from 60 countries, and from the five continents, in the Sub21, Junior, Cadet and U14 categories.
The karateka from Poliarrecife had a brilliant performance in Mexico. After two victories in the round of 16 and quarter-finals, against competitors from Mexico and Chile, by 10-0 and 1-0, she lost by 3-5, in a very close match, against the representative of Canada in the semi-finals, prevailing in the fight for the bronze against the competitor from Guatemala by 3-0.
It is the first WKF Youth League medal for the Canary Islands, and the first in the world circuit for Lanzarote karate, which comes from the hand of the karateka from the Arrecife club.

For Amelie Skiba, current champion of the Canary Islands and runner-up in Spain, this medal represents a further step in her constant rise in the field of competitive karate, and an extra motivation for her upcoming sports commitments, for which she will continue to prepare in the facilities of the Titerroy Municipal Pavilion, where the Karate Poliarrecife Club usually carries out its training.
