The Snipe class racing team of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife was present last weekend in the third round of the season of the Canarian Snipe Circuit, achieving a great performance and occupying the first positions in the classification. The pair formed by Alfredo González and Alonso Pérez (RCN de Arrecife / Club de Mar Puerto Calero) took the victory and the podium was dominated by sailors from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife.
The third round of the Canarian Snipe Circuit took place last weekend in Gran Canaria and was attended by a large group of sailors from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, highlighting the return to the class of Alfredo González and Leonardo “Nete” Armas after their participation in the World Championship in Argentina. The wind conditions were quite harsh on Saturday, with strong gusts of wind that caused different breakages.
Alfredo González and Alonso Pérez (RCN de Arrecife / Club de Mar Puerto Calero) demonstrated great consistency throughout the six races held, adding three partial victories, a second place and a third position. Despite not finishing the last race of the competition, discarding the worst result allowed them to be proclaimed winners of the event.
Gustavo del Castillo and Cristian Sánchez finished tied on points with the champions (RCNG / RCNA), who won two of the races held and finished the rest of the races as second classified. Pedro de León and Óscar Pattenden (Real Club Náutico de Arrecife), conquered the third position of the podium, after achieving the partial victory in the last race of the competition.
Leonardo “Nete” Armas and Miguel Bethencourt were just outside the podium, with the sailors from Lanzarote fighting for the first positions in each of the demanding races held throughout the weekend. The eight crews from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife who participated concluded the competition among the top twelve classified, which demonstrates the excellent level of the club's fleet.
